IAFPATENT ASSISTANCEFOR SBIR / STTR COMPANIES

HOW IT WORKS

A clear next step.
At every stage.

You bring the award details and your goals. We help make the funding questions, patent decisions, and practical next steps manageable.

WE WALK YOU THROUGH IT

From first conversation
to a plan you can act on.

01

Tell us where you are

Share your agency, award phase, project timing, and a general description of the patent help you need. Save confidential invention details for an appropriate private discussion.

You leave with: a clear starting point.
02

Review the assistance options

Together, we review your approved TABA arrangement and the agency guidance. We identify questions for your program or contracting contact; the agency determines eligibility and approval.

You leave with: a funding route to confirm.
03

Define the patent work

We discuss the invention’s business purpose, known disclosures, existing filings, and priorities. We propose a bounded scope, deliverables, and fees.

You leave with: a proposed scope and budget.
04

Prepare the next-step materials

Where appropriate, we help prepare a statement of work and provider information for your agency process. You obtain any required approvals before authorized work begins.

You leave with: the information to move forward.
05

Carry out the agreed work

Once the engagement and any required funding approvals are in place, we proceed with the agreed patent work. You review the work and make the decisions with your practitioner.

You leave with: agreed deliverables and a view of what comes next.

BEFORE WE SPEAK

A little preparation
makes the conversation useful.

Have your award notice, the relevant solicitation, and any approved TABA scope available. If you already have patent counsel, tell us so that responsibilities can be coordinated.

If a filing deadline or public disclosure is imminent, flag the date when you contact us. A funding review should not delay attention to a patent deadline.

YOUR NEXT STEP

Let’s make your
options clear.

Bring your award details. We’ll walk you through the funding questions and the patent work ahead.
